our Family Tree . . .
The prime researcher of this Stevens Tree, and related surname families featured in this Web site is Donald W. Roberts Jr, husband of Patricia H. (Stevens) Roberts.   A large Family Tree was established early-on.   However, attempts to find distant relations, to assist in a meaningful research of this family was illusive.   A breakthrough occured in early 2004, as cousins and distant Stevens relations were located, and large amounts of data supporting and expanding the previously developed tree began to flow.

key Stevens Ancestors . . .

Roger Stevens of Wales . . .
He was born in 1700 in Wales.   We know little of him at this time except that he died in NY and is the progenitor of this American Stevens Family.   Family lore says that he came to this country with 10 of his children, but we doubt that since we know of only two children, both sons.   His son, and our ancestor, Roger Stevens (Jr.) was born in 1727 in NY.

Frederick Adolphus Stevens . . .
He was born 5 Feb 1818 in Ontario, Canada, as was his five siblings, one of the smaller family groups in the early Stevens generations.   Frederick, apparently a colorful fellow, came to Missouri, USA, and although he constantly compared life there with that in Canada, believed that one could make a lot of money in MO.   He was of the opinion that Canadian women were better choices as wives, and gave some thought of returning to Canada to fetch a Canadian woman for a wife.   However, he married Sally Ann Kerby from MO, and they raised their family in Exline, Appanoose Co., IA.   At the time that Frederick (Pat's ancestor) was raising his family, William Caleb Cutler (Don's ancestor) was raising his family in Centerville, Appanoose Co., IA.   These two Family Trees would eventually connect several generations later.

Dr. David Stevens . . .
He was born 31 Oct 1853 in Exline, Appanoose Co., IA.   He married twice, once in IA, and later in OK.   Not counting children who may have died as infants, he had seven children by each wife.   He moved from IA to KS for a short time, and eventually to OK where he had a successful, and very respected career as a Doctor from 1889 to 1928 in Guthrie, OK.
